Canon’s user-generated HD video contest was risky…no one had any doubts about that.

It was called “The Story Beyond the Still” and it was an eight-month contest that required contestants to have skill, equipment, and a lot of time.

Pandemic Labs was tasked with one large mission: keep the contest going for eight whole months!

Through a combination of digital PR, social advertising, social network promotion, continual monitoring of Canon’s digital footprint, and more than a few guerrilla tactics, we didn’t just keep the contest going, we made it thrive.

  • 278 HD submissions
  • Over 12,000 video makers driven to the contest page
  • Exposure to over half a million people

Most importantly, the final film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and was submitted to the Academy Awards.
