Mention

(n) A post (whether blog, news, forum, video, tweet, etc.) that talks about the brand or specific viral campaign. At Pandemic Labs, we further define a mentions as having to contain a link to the brand. This link could be to the brand’s official website, a viral video, a Facebook Page or Twitter profile, etc.

Example:

There have been over 480 mentions of your brand on YouTube alone since our video went live last week.


Influencer

(n) A participant who, usually through online means, has the ability to spread a viral, social media, or PR element to extremely large numbers of people. This is generally accomplished via successful blogs, books or celebrity.

Example:

Perez Hilton is one of the web’s best known influencers; when he talks about something, a lot of people hear about it.


Infection

(n) A link to or embed of a seed.

Example:

There are more than 100 infections of the YouTube seed, most of which are forums and blogs.


Entertainment Drivers

(n) Theme, genre or idea that causes people to be entertained.

Example:

The most common entertainment driver on Youtube is humor.


Buzz Marketing

(n) A form of marketing (both online and offline) characterized by the well-controlled creation of buzz and discussion around a certain product or service, often using existing social networks and societal infrastructures.

Example:

Buzz marketing has seen new success with the advent of huge social networks such as MySpace and Facebook.
