Nice post. It's great to hear what someone who is 22 thinks people should be doing to reach the 22 year old audience. I think that much of what you say (e.g. "Design your communication in a way that helps out the younger generation in some way. Give them free access to something they want in exchange for exposure to advertisements. Solve a problem they have no solution to.") applies to any generation.

And above all -- be an avid social media user yourself. What bugs me more than anything are marketing types who dip into social media for a nano-second and then think they know everything they need to know about it. Using it is paramount! To help get a jump start on effectively using social media, I've put together an upcoming webinar. http://wahbootcamp.com/profiles/blogs/webinar-covers-what-you-need

What I'm proudest of is that the woman I'm doing it with I met on Twitter. That's right, we didn't know each other before avidly using social media. This type of connection across continents and the world is the new age that everyone on the planet is growing into. ENGAGE!

@StumbleUser: Haha!
Great article, though. The Obama Campaign tapped into the Millennial/Y Generation and in turn they def helped push him over the edge. If you're marketing to that age range then take some tips from his campaign staff...
