Nice post Clint. I don't understand why more companies aren't realizing the potential of using Twitter to market themselves. Things will probably change after Dell's recent success story.

Dali and Anna,

Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked it. There's so much opportunity to build customer relationships on Twitter that it would be a shame for companies to not at least consider using it.

[...] haha Take Starbucks–or, as I should say, Brad from Starbucks. Considering that over 30,000 people follow Brad, he does an excellent job answering questions and talking to people. His tweets aren’t overly clever or exceptionally charming. But then again, neither are Barack Obama’s, and quite a few people seem to think he’s fantastic at Twitter. [...]

Great post and I agree with it completely. Seth has it wrong on this one. I'm currently trying to find a job I love so I'm a personal brand, you might say. And I see tremendous value and power in Twitter. All that's required is to know how to use it correctly. I've actually often taken the time to teach corporate tweeters or marketers how best to use Twitter and convinced others to start using it. So far it's made them better tweeters, helped them gain valuable followers, and even new leads for their businesses. And they all, for lack of a better term, "get it." Twitter isn't for every company or every brand. But there are many who could be utilizing it that aren't. And I believe they're missing out on a very inexpensive way to build a loyal following and interact with customers, clients and other stakeholders.

Clint,

I couldn't agree more with you. Although, you can find your fair share of twitter spam, there are many twitter users definitely using it right - providing value to their target markets and mastering twitter marketing.

Great post.
